Murugan, also known as Kartikeya or Skanda, is a Hindu deity primarily worshipped in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and other parts of South India. Since he is deeply associated with Tamil culture and is considered the "God of the Tamils" (Tamizh Kadavul), he is often depicted as speaking Tamil.
In Tamil devotional literature, especially in works like the Tiruppukazh by Arunagirinathar, Murugan is celebrated in Tamil poetry and hymns.
However, as a divine figure, Murugan transcends language and is worshipped by people who speak various languages, including Sanskrit, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. In North India, he is known as Kartikeya and is often associated with Sanskrit texts like the Skanda Purana!
The origin of both languages Sanskrit and Tamil , and the debate of which is the oldest language is truely a debatable one. You are welcome to comment your opinion to support strongly , if you believe either Tamil or Sanskrit , which murugan might have originated.
